Sandhyarani Kumar aged 35 years is a resident of Piplipali village in Bargarh district. After her marriage, she was engaged in household chores. The responsibility of her aged in-laws was also on her shoulder. She did it all without any complains. Her husband was an Auto Driver. He earned very less as there was not many bookings in the village. His income was not enough for the family to sustain. That was the time, when Sandhyarani decided to start her own business and financially support the family.
In the year 2017, she got associated with Mahashakti Foundation by forming a SHG named – Aradhana SHG with 10 other members. Mahashakti Foundation with the esteem support of ACC Ltd. was promoting micro-enterprise development activities through Sawalamban Project in the periphery villages of mines area. After six months of forming the group, Sandhyarani took a loan of INR 20,000/- from Spandana Microfinance and bought jersey breed cows which gave 8-10 litres of milk each. She sold the milk and with that money started backyard poultry. Staffs of Mahashakti Foundation, CSR Manager of ACC along with veterinary department of Bargarh district helped her in this. ACC Trust supported her with INR 10,000/- for establishment of the poultry unit. Mahashakti Foundation made her a bank loan linkage of INR 50,000/-. In the first phase, she received 300 chicks and after three months, she received another 300 chicks. Presently she’s selling 5-6 birds daily and is earning INR 1000-1500/- of which profit is INR 400-500/-.
Within six months of time, the financial condition of the family changed for good. She started earning about INR 15000/- a month. The timely intervention of ACC Trust & Mahashakti Foundation gave her a confidence to start her own enterprise. And the financial aid was a big support. We at Mahashakti feel blessed to have in a way help Sandhyarani to come out from the miseries, she had earlier and lead a finically healthy and stable life.
