Story of Allahdini Bagarti…

Women Entrepreneur plays an important role in local economy and a large percentage of microenterprises in developing countries are undertaken by rural women. Rural women frequently have primary responsibility for agricultural production, in addition to domestic responsibilities, livestock caring and child care. In a developing country like India where economic status of women is very poor, especially in rural areas and opportunities of income is very less, in this scenario the SHG have paved the way for economic independence of rural area. Although the Covid-19 Pandemic in its initial months, forced everybody to stay inside houses, but after the unlock phase started, these SHG women came outside and kick-started their works and began to earn.

Mrs. Allahdini Bagarti, a residence of Dang village in Bargarh, which is a model village of ACC Cement. After the health condition of her husband deteriorated due to certain medical conditions, he had to resign from his work. It left Allahdini with no other alternatives, but to work, earn and take care of her ailing husband and school going children. She then along with some other women formed a Self Help Group named Maa Annapurna SHG last year and started saving money for a year so as to qualify for getting loan.

After a year, in the month of June, Mahashakti Foundation conducted a meeting in the village, and promised financial support through Pratingya Trust. After proper documentation, Allahdini was sanctioned with a loan amount of INR 10,000 with an interest of 1% per month. With the loan amount, she opened a grocery cum vegetable shop in her house and is doing a good business. At present, she’s earning of about 6000-8000 per month.

Allahdini had to slog hard to start a business and be the breadwinner of her family. Her husband, who also stays at home all the time due to medical illness is her biggest support. Strong will can win you every odds, is evident from the story of Allahdini.
